DashDyno SPD is an exciting new in-vehicle mounted device for the automotive enthusiast.
With DashDyno you can:
- Data log engine sensors and GPS position
- Measure horsepower and torque
- Trigger alarms lights
- Diagnose that pesky Check Engine light. Using a PC
- Watch a synchronized playback of sensor and GPS data with Google Earth
Traditional scan tool features such as reading/clearing the dashboard Check Engine light and displaying the freeze frame are supported. Access to thousands of generic and enhanced diagnostic trouble code definitions are displayed directly on screen.

Vehicle horsepower/torque and acceleration times are measured and graphically displayed. All graph screens zoom and scroll. The dynamometer also supports automatic performance measuring where an acceleration test is performed every time the vehicle accelerates from a stop.

The data logger records data from the vehicle diagnostic port, analog inputs, a digital input, and an external GPS. Up to 16 parameters may be simultaneously recorded. An external SD / MMC memory card slot means never running out of storage.

Recorded data may be viewed directly on DashDyno or a PC using the Dyno-Scan for Windows software. Dyno-Scan for Windows may also display live vehicle data when connected to the mini USB connector for those situations when laptop diagnostics may be preferred.
All Auterra products support vehicles from 2000 or newer (from 2004 for Diesel) from all car manufacturers European, American, Japanese. Our scan tools are packed with features, yet so easy to use.

A-500 DashDyno SPD™ combines a scan tool, performance meter and data logger into one, easy-to-use instrument for the automotive enthusiast. DashDyno is a unique device introducing many industry-first features. This item is brand new in sealed factory packaging and has a full 1 year factory warranty

DashDyno can be handheld or installed inside a vehicle with the windshield suction cup mount. All 1996 or newer vehicles are supported using the OBD II diagnostic port located under the dashboard - no hard wiring is required. The diagnostic port powers the device and offers access to 133 different vehicle parameters; such as engine RPM, oxygen sensors, fuel economy, and air-fuel ratio.

Scan Tool » Scan tool features such as reading/clearing the dashboard Check Engine light, displaying the freeze frame, and viewing live data streams are supported. Access to thousands of generic and enhanced diagnostic trouble code definitions are displayed directly on screen.

HP/Torque » Vehicle horsepower/torque and acceleration times are measured and graphically displayed on DashDyno. All graph screens zoom and scroll. A vertical cursor moves along the graph to obtain exact measurements anywhere along the curve.

Data Logger » The data logger records data from the vehicle diagnostic port, analog inputs, a digital input, and an external GPS. Up to 16 parameters may be simultaneously recorded. An external SD / MMC memory card slot means never running out of storage.

Alarm Lights » Three user programmable high intensity alarm lights illuminate or flash when sensor limits are exceeded and can be configured into a sequential shift light. The digital output open/closed state is also programmable based upon sensor values.

PC Software » Can't decide between a PC-based scan tool or a handheld? Now you don't have to. DashDyno includes the powerful Dyno-Scan for Windows PC software. Use the DashDyno PC pass-through mode and connect any Windows computer to your vehicle.

Google Earth Playback » The included Dyno-Scan for Windows software plays back DashDyno recorded GPS data within Google Earth (external serial GPS not included). Dyno-Scan for Windows automatically controls the Google Earth position and camera angle. Moving the data cursor within a recorded data file causes Google Earth to fly to the new position. Playback data and Google Earth flies behind the vehicle position exactly where the data was recorded. This is an extremely powerful tool in analyzing vehicle data whether on a racetrack, off road or around town.

PC Software

DashDyno and the Dyno-Scan for Windows software work seamlessly together to provide a complete scan tool and data logger solution. With the Dyno-Scan for Windows software you can:

  • Connect to a vehicle and use all the features within the Dyno-Scan for Windows software.
  • Access more diagnostic data than with DashDyno alone.
  • View Live Data, Acceleration, Power Torque and Dyno Setup files created on the DashDyno.
  • Modify or create Live Data, Acceleration, Power Torque and Dyno Setup files and copy them to DashDyno.
  • View recorded GPS data in Google Earth.

Files recorded on DashDyno can be opened on the PC, and vice versa - no importing/exporting is required. The Analyze Live Data screen on the PC offers many different ways of viewing recorded data.

ScanTool Diagnostic

DashDyno connects to your vehicle's OBD II diagnostic data port. Once connected, it reads Check Engine light failures and displays the diagnostic trouble code definition directly on-screen.

Thousands of generic and enhanced code definitions (DTC Specific Trouble Codes )are included for every make and model vehicle. And since DashDyno is so portable, you're never more than a few key presses away from diagnosing a failure and turning off the Check Engine light.

DashDyno is equipped with numerous other scan tool related features such as displaying live sensor data and the freeze frame which is a snapshot of the sensors at the time of failure. The live sensor data stream can be viewed in a line graph, bar graph, gauge or meter format and recorded for later playback. Driving tests are easily performed with the windshield-mounting bracket.

For even more diagnostic capability, DashDyno connects to a PC allowing you to use all the features within the Dyno-Scan for Windows software package.

DashDyno Dyno Software

Auterra's DashDyno SPD has performance measuring features including horsepower and torque measurements, acceleration tests, gear ratio measurements and a trip computer. The remarkable performance meter features are are an Auterra first! Never before has a product combined the power of a diagnostic scan tool with a performance meter dynamometer package.

Did that engine modification really increase horsepower? What is my vehicle's 0-60 time? How fast is my vehicle on the 1/4 mile? Auterra's DashDyno measures this and a whole lot more!

The DashDyno software records speed and RPM signals while the vehicle accelerates through the RPM range. With vehicle and environmental parameters entered, such as vehicle weight, drag coefficient, altitude, and air temperature, the software creates horsepower and torque curves.

Environmental factors are corrected for using the industry standard SAE J1349. This dyno correction factor is used to standardize the horsepower and torque readings, so that the effects of air pressure, humidity, elevation, and temperature are removed from the measurements. With this dyno correction factor applied, measurements from a vehicle dyno'ed on a cold day in Denver will produce the same results as a hot day in San Diego.

Vehicle factors, such as drag coefficient, frontal area, and vehicle weight, are also compensated for within the software. This means regardless of whether your vehicle has the aerodynamics of a Ford F150 or a Porsche 911, the software correctly measures power and torque.

Shown below are a few of the key dyno screens available:

Power Torque - displays horsepower and torque curves for the vehicle under test. Move the vertical cursor to obtain an exact HP/torque values anywhere along the curve.

HP and Torque Graph Screen

Acceleration - displays acceleration (speed vs. time) for the vehicle under test. Move the vertical cursor to obtain an exact speed and time anywhere along the curve.

Acceleration Graph Screen
Trip Computer - displays various fuel economy parameters and distances. All accumulated values are stored to the SD card.   Trip Computer Screen (Fuel Economy)
Performance - the performance screen measures acceleration every time the vehicle accelerates from a stop for completely automatic testing.   Acceleration Performance Gauge Screen
Performance Statistics - after the run, the stats screen shows the current acceleration run measurements. Acceleration Performance Statistics Screen
